Petit bateau was created in 1893 in the french city of Troyes by Pierre Valton. At first, the company was an hosiery but then specialized in underwear for men, women and children. In two legendary scissor cuts, Stephen Valton invented the pants without legs and win the Grand Prize for innovation during the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1937. Petit Bateau became the leader on the underwear market.
In 1988, the world leader in plant origin cosmectics, Yves Rocher purchased the company and gave a new birth to the brand. Petit Bateau is creating soft and sweet clothes for women and children and is now selling worldwide.
